Hi. My name is Sachin Pereira. I finished my BE in Electronics & Communication from Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal. I don't want to repeat all good things about this group because we all know all the benefits we have received so far & will be benefiting in the future, especiall those of us who have got jobs & few others who have received multiple offers. I have a few suggestions to make:

(1) When a person likes to intimate about an email, please give all possible details regarding that job for example, where is the job location, possible interview schedule,.... Also give the full email & not a part of the email. Some time back I saw some emails which were xyz&yah...., Thus it's impossible to know if it is This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. (2) When someone wants to intimate regarding walk-in interview, please give proper venue address till the place & if possible with postal pin code. Previously, I had come to know that there would be recruitment at Hughes Software (www.hss.com). When I had been to Infantry Road at Bangalore, I was surprised that there was no interview at all. In fact the HR person there was tired of sending back a whole group of people who had been there. That is why it is essential sometimes.

My sincere advice (as given by my senior to me) to those who are not yet graduated is that please try to get on campus job. This will reduce a lot of tension after your graduation. For those of you who are attending off-campus interviews, please prepare for the company papers. They are available at:

www.freshersworld.com, www.vyomworld.com, www.sikhsfortechnology.com

As soon as I came to Bangalore, the first thing I did was to go around Bangalore & dropped in hard-copy of my CV to all the companies I saw on the way. When you drop the CV try to hand it over to HR department personally & if you have any employee reference in that particular company DO NOT FORGET TO MENTION IT ON THE TOP RIGHT HAND of your CV. I had been to International Tech Park Ltd (ITPL), Whitefield, Bangalore & made a deal with a local Professional Courier to send my CV to all IT based (other than call-centers & BPOs) companies there. Please visit www.bangaloreit.com website & you can get the list of the companies working there. After contacting these courier people, I got to know their exact address & sent them my CV. I did this because we cannot drop the CV personally there. Apart from this I would send a lot of emails with my CV to companies. Also send your CVs to as amny job consultants as possible. This will also help you. Apart from that register yourself to www.naukri.com, www.jobsahead.com, www.siliconjobs.com, ...There are companies at M G Road, Dickenson Road, Koramangala, Electronic City, Bangalore.

I got to attend Lightsurf Technology test (It is at Koramangala 5th block. Please visit www.koramangala.com). I could not clear the test as there was RDBMS concepts that was involved. Apart from that there was aptitude test. I had attended Aztec test(Koramangala). You will require Employee reference to write the test. They had given 3 questions & we had to answer any 2 questions on C & C++ programs. The problems were all easy.

(1) Write a program in C or C++ or Java to create a function Unique which accepts a sentence & counts the number of unique words in it.

Ex: What is the What word

The output must be 4

(2) Write a prgram to Push, Pop a stack.

(3) Write a program to create a singly linked list which will accept any type of data.

I have cleared their test, & am awaiting their interview call. I had appeared the Infosys test on Oct 12 & I got their offer leter too. I was given a week's time to prepare for the test. Though I am an average student I studied seriously for the full week & I answered 10 question out of 12 correctly. Only 1 question was a guess work. The questions are mentioned by some people & I don't think I need to send them again. English was a cake-walk & it was very easy. I could complete it in half a hour. I read Barron's high frequency wrd list for that. For puzzles I read:-

(1) Mensa Logic Puzzles

(2) Shankuntala devi 2 books

(3) George Summers (most of the puzzles)

(4) Ravi Narula (2-3 pages only & I had no time)

Even before the results were declared, I had attended Oracle test at Bannerghatta Road, Bangalore & did not clear the test as there were PL/SQL questions that I don't know. Their aptitude is 30 questions & 30 technical questions. 1 hour is the duration. You need to be fast in calculation. Aptitude questions are lengthy ones. After this I had applied for OCWEN (ITPL, Whitefield, Bangalore) & the first round was 50 aptitude questions that must be answered in 12 minutes. The key to this is you should answer as many as possible without going back. The questions are very easy & speed is required. I answered 47 questions. Myself & the other person who had answered 46 questions were selected for the second round. The second round had 5 puzzles & 3 must be answered (Gerorge Summers & Shakuntala type). If you answer more than 3 you will get 10 bonus marks for every correct answer. There are a lot of question paper sets. Almost it is like CET & you cannot copy from your neighbour. I did not receive any further intimation after my second round.

I had appereared for Cable & wireless interview at ITPL, Whitefield, Bangalore & got selected, but because of the job-prfile I showed no interest in that. I had a test at SLK software at New BEL road, Near IISc institute, Bangalore & cleared the first round of test, but did not clear their interview. I had sent the email to to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

I am following the footsteps of my senoir (who had adviced me in the past & is also in Infy past one year). I knew I will make it to Infy as I did well in the test. But I was tensed up when I came to know that many of my friends & classmates got email about selection the day before Deepavali. Sine the next 3 days were holidays I could not contact INFOSYS regarding my test result. On Monday I came to know that I cleared the test. But I had not received any emails even after few other friends got regret letters. Finally I got the call letter on Friday & I will have to join on Nov 17 at Bangalore.

That's all friends. All the best to each one of you,

SACHIN.
